Privacy Policy

Our core privacy principle

We do not track your browsing across the web, we do not sell personal data, and we collect only what is strictly necessary to deliver this site’s features.

Flame & Feast is an independent editorial site published at flameandfeast.com.

Information we collect

1. Email addresses (voluntary)

If you subscribe to email updates we collect your email address, and nothing else. We do not record which page you signed up from, your name, or anything you did not type into the box.

Consent is double opt-in, and that is a description of the mechanism rather than a reassurance. Submitting the form sends you one confirmation email and stores nothing. Your address is only added to our list when you open the link in that email, and the link expires after 24 hours. If you never click it, no record of you is created anywhere.

Addresses are stored with Resend, who deliver our email. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and we do not sell or share your address.

2. Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_<id>) that give your browser a random identifier, and it records the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and how you arrived. We do not give Google your name or email address, and we do not use Google Ads remarketing or advertising features.

If you would rather not be counted, browser-level tracking protection, an ad blocker, or Google’s own opt-out add-on will all stop it, and nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Vercel additionally records standard server logs — anonymised request metadata such as browser type and response status — for performance and security monitoring.

Cookies and affiliate tracking

Flame & Feast sets no advertising or remarketing cookies. The only cookies we set are the Google Analytics ones described above, which measure which pages get read and are not used to target advertising at you.

Google Analytics also records when an outbound link to a merchant is clicked: which page it was on, the link's text and its destination, so we can see which pages are useful enough to act on. When you click an outbound link to a merchant (such as Amazon.com), that merchant may set a cookie on your device to track qualifying purchases and credit our affiliate account, pursuant to their own privacy policies. For details on our affiliate relationships, see our disclosure page.

Third-party service providers

We work with trusted infrastructure providers to run this website:

  • Vercel: Website hosting, edge delivery, and privacy-preserving performance telemetry.
  • Resend: Transactional and newsletter email delivery, handling subscriber lists securely.
  • Google Analytics: Page-view measurement. Sets the first-party cookies described above.
  • Amazon Associates: Outbound affiliate merchant tracking.

Your rights (GDPR & UK Data Protection)

Under UK and EU data protection regulations (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your email address from our lists.
  • Withdraw consent or unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.

Contact and data requests
